Who I am
The website address is: https://www.mjcarlson.com. I’m Michael. I write books and short stories. I don’t collect your information or sell/give/or loan it to data miners. I hate that crap. This website is for information purposes only and I intend to keep it that way. To that end, there is no provision for you to contact me through this site and I do not collect Personal Identifying Information (PII).
What personal data I collect and why I collect it
Comments
There’s no provision for visitors to leave comments on this site, so no information is collected for that purpose. If you want to tell me how much you like one of my stories, that’s great. If you think you may have found a large number of typos or corrections that require my attention, even better. Please come look me up on facebook. Just search for M.J. Carlson or M.J. Carlson, writer. (See? Not even a link).

Cookies
I don’t use cookies. I like cookies, but only the ones with chocolate chips.
Embedded content from other websites
I don’t use embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.) from other websites. I do have links to other websites, i.e. book distributors, artists, software developers, editors, and people/businesses I feel I can support because I’m familiar with their work. but any information they collect is outside my control (I’m talking about you, Amazon). If that changes, I’ll let you know.
Analytics
Your contact information
I don’t collect any. If you use Ghostery (I do, and I recommend you do, too) you’ll see a tracker pop up. That’s Gravatar. It’s part of WordPress and I have no control over that. You can and should block it if you like.
What rights you have over your data
I believe you should have complete control over your personal data and the universal default should be Opt-out.
Additional information
How I protect your data
By not keeping any.
What data breach procedures I have in place
This site keeps no contact information.
What third parties I receive data from
None.
What automated decision making and/or profiling I do with user data
None.
A final note
I used to have an easy to use contact form on the site just so individuals could contact me with questions, concerns, or just to say hi because something I wrote touched them on an emotional level. But major corporations’ unethical behavior of actively surveilling as many people as possible with tracking code, cookies, and various forms of data mining, necessitated action by the European Union (a much more progressive, people-oriented governmental body than here in the US), in an effort to protect the privacy of its citizens. I had to remove the easy contact form from this site in order to insure compliance with their laws, which I generally agree with. My personal opinion is without true privacy, there can be no real intimacy. So, eff you social media CEO’s, unethical websites that collect personal information, and all the rest of you corporate shitbags who collect and sell individuals’ personal information, it’s because of you people the rest of us can’t have nice things, like a free (as in freedom) internet.
